With decades of combined experience, our co-owners Mark Schlaich and James Chantler lead a group of skilled professionals who bring expertise, precision, and a passion for excellence to every project. Our team ensures your property receives the highest level of care from start to finish.
Mark has been in construction and engineering design fields for over 40 years, specializing in foundations and structural concrete for the last 25. He is one of the most well-known and respected professionals in the Southern California foundation & structural repair industry.
His experience includes a vast array of buildings, including structural concrete/steel in historical buildings, underpinning, retaining walls, non-ductile upgrades, soft-story upgrades, apartment buildings, hillside homes, custom homes, commercial buildings, restaurants, and even a castle restoration in England.
He has many years of experience in project management and quality control on construction projects. Mark has personally inspected over 9,000 homes and structures and utilizes this vast experience. Mark oversees the production end of the process, managing, and training our in-house crews.
Starting in the industry in 2003 as a mason’s apprentice in England, James has acquired various construction skills, from remodeling homes, rebuilding chimneys, retaining walls, and foundation replacements to underpinning, soft-stories, hillside decks, and more. Moving up through the ranks over the years, he has also been supervising jobs and training crews.
James has specialized in foundations and structural repairs for the last decade, becoming a licensed concrete specialty contractor in 2014 and later adding the GC (general contractor) class. James has personally inspected or worked on over 5,000 properties.
James now carries out (with Matt and Mark) most of the company’s initial consultations, inspections and estimating.
Taylor handles our Treasury functions here at Foundation Repair LA Inc. She’ll be the one sending you invoices, she can answer billing questions and more.
Alyson is our Office Manager and is an instrumental part of the team. She will likely be the first person you speak with when you call, email or message us. She is responsible for many administrative functions ranging from answering the phone and scheduling appointments to pulling permits and so much more.
Matt has been around the field of foundation repair and construction for most of his life. In addition to having worked in the field building new foundations, retaining walls, and installing seismic retrofits, he also worked directly with city engineering and permitting departments in the LA area. With a decade of practical, on-the-job experience and technical know-how, he has a unique view when evaluating homes and providing solutions.
Foundation Repair LA Inc. construction projects are completed by our highly experienced employees. Our construction projects are not farmed out or “brokered” to other companies.
